Welcome to the Scale model main page. I started building models when I was about six years old. I took a long break, but have recently gotten back into practice. My modeling started with snap together car and plane kits. My first kit requiring cement was Darth Vaders' TIE Fighter (how apropos, right?) when I was about seven. My dear old Dad did most of the work. I remember him setting out tooth picks and rubberbands to apply the cement and hold the parts together until they dried. He was very patient and forced me to be which I'm sure was not easy. The results were good and I put the model proudly on my shelf. By the time I was ten or eleven I was modeling many planes and a couple of armor pieces. I made a very weak attempt at a low budget diorama for a Patton tank using ideas from Boy's Life magazine. My planes all hung from the ceiling from monofilament line and thumbtacks. I took a hiatus from modeling for many years and after college began to build some of the vintage Star Wars vehicle kits (X-Wing, Millennium Falcon, Snow Speeder). I spent a great deal of time on the painting and weathering of the kits. Jump to the present, I have taken a keen interest in W.W.II German armor and naval models. I have also spent a great deal of time developing my diorama making skills. All of the modeling I do now is aimed at the production of a set of North East Atlantic shipwreck models.
